Craftsmanship Analysis

Creating a gothic lace black cat plush was not an easy task due to the delicate nature of the lace fabric. To make the lace more durable, we used a double applique technique to create a more resilient, scratch-resistant fabric.

Applique embroidery was chosen for the eyes and stitched around the edges for a more three-dimensional look.

Our first approach was to sew two layers of lace together, but the beards did not stand upright and did not have the sharp, defined shape we wanted. Finally, we switched to printing the whiskers on a stiffer fabric. By doing so, we were able to make the whiskers stand up while maintaining the lacy texture we were going for.
